At least one letter and one number
Both upper and lower case letters
At least one special character (punctuation, $ % & etc)

The best passwords are usually a set of somewhat random words, that include some of the other characters. For example: 'carefully|S0LDIERS|against|Prom1se'. Is likely easier to remember, but would take 61 Quattuordecillion years (1 followed by 45 zeros) to guess based on a computer guessing 1000 times a second!
Obviously don't use that specific password.
